![]() ![]() It was also his first game of the season with four total touchdowns.Įvans also had his best game of the season against Carolina, so it should come as no surprise that he heaped praise on Brady. That to go along with his NFL record start to his career is enough for him to get in.Īgain just please stay healthy Mike Evans! Take care of them hamstrings and stay consistent my guy, and be should he canton bound. The seven-time Super Bowl champion hadn't thrown for 400-plus yards in a game this year until Sunday. ![]() Again all depending on health i can see him him finish with over 15k yards and around 140 TD’s. He can then probably transition into more of a Vincent Jackson big possession WR type role for another 3-4 years before he calls it quits. I think Mike can definitely get to at least 10 consecutive years of 1k yards if healthy and that’ll get him near 12k yards, and 100 TD’s by 31. Doesnt matter if its Glennon, McCown, Jameis, Fitspatrick, or Brady Mike will get his touches and enough big plays to hit his milestones. Mike has proven that it doesnt matter who is throwing the ball if he’s healthy he will get his 1k yards and around 10 TD’s. I agree with most of everything you said, except the comment about the bucs QB situation having any bearing on his stats. The Hall is very picky with WR selection. Make another 3+ All-Pro teams (1st or 2nd)ĭoes that seem difficult? It’s because it is. Realistically, for Evans to even have a prayer, he will need to do some combination (not all of) of the following: So even though Evans’ career is off to an unprecedentedly amazing start, he has a long way to go, and uncertainty for the Bucs at QB right now isn’t going to help him. Here’s another example of a guy up there on the list who hasn’t gotten in: Henry Ellard who has been eligible for 19 years. He’s been eligible for three years now and hasn’t been inducted. I think our fans sometimes lack the objective lens we need when we assess Evans’ Hall of Fame chances.įirst of all, the bar for WR is absurdly high, and if you want a good case study example, look no further than Reggie Wayne. I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts on Mike’s chances.ĭing ding ding. I really hope his career continues on this path. Mike is a great player and better person. Admittedly, he is great at avoiding big hits (at the expense of his YAC), but Mike is a bigger receiver - age and injuries usually catch those guys sooner. At 28 years old (29 in August), it seems attainable if injuries and age don’t derail him. ![]() Taking all of that into account, I’d say that 3-4 more solid seasons would earn him very serious consideration. Mike’s unique stat of 8 straight seasons (and counting) of 1k yards to start a career is a nice feather in his cap. A ton of the guys never even won one (Moss, Fitz, and T.O. Mike’s four Pro Bowls is a good start, but he will need at least two more to be comparable to other HoF WRs. Competition for AP at WR is notoriously tough. While he does not have any 1st team All Pros, there are other HoF WRs that either have one or none. If he hits 1k receptions, that would make him nearly a lock. Receptions seem to carry less weight, but he still needs to break 800 to be respectable. It would also put him in the top 10 all time for receiving TDs. He will need to hit 100 TDs, which is a huge, round number that would look great to the HoF voters. If he breaks 14k, that would make him nearly a lock. Mike will need to crack 13k yards to have a good shot, putting him in the top 20 all time in receiving yards. I wanted to see how he holds up and what he needs to do to make the cut. To entertain myself (and maybe others), I did some research on Mike Evans’ stats and compared them to Hall of Fame WRs. ![]()
